Celebratory Breakfast!

This week students were invited to attend a celebratory breakfast during crew time for achieving their recent pledges.

It was great to see and hear the students sharing their achievements and being able to enjoy this with others.

Here are a selection of students and the pledges they achieved…

Jacob E25 – I pledge to increase my ‘be kind’ HoWL in Citizenship by 0.5. I will do this by respectfully listening more in session.

Shawn E26 – I pledge to improve my Work Hard and Get Smart in Spanish from 3.8 to 4.0 by concentrating on my work and challenging myself with the work set.

Rhys E26 – I pledge to improve my ‘work hard’ and ‘be kind’ HoWLs in Art by 0.5 by completing the tasks and being mindful when speaking to staff and peers.

Bob E25 – I pledge to improve my HoWLs in Citizenship to 3.0. I will do this by being less of a distraction and following instructions first time.

Well done to everyone who achieved their pledges!

Chocs away! C26 working hard to raise funds for Save The Children

Our C26 / Year 9 GCSE Spanish students have been working hard to promote a charity fundraising initiative in aid of Save The Children, as part of our current work on Fair Trade, social equity and child poverty in Latin America. This involved students embracing activism – by producing and displaying posters in both schools – leadership of the fundraising, and equity by ensuring that all of their peers had the opportunity to guess the number of Fair Trade chocolates in a jar. At £1.00 a go, the winner with the closest guess to the actual number of chocolates would get to keep them and the jar.

This afternoon we can reveal that Miss Cade and Crew DaVinci won the chocolates in XPE School, (split with Mr Voltaire and Mr Wilmot), and Imogen correctly guessed that there were 56 chocolates in XP School’s jar. As a result of our students’ compassion they raised a total of £60.77 for Save The Children. What a great way to end this term!

Leading Our Own Learning

Pupils have spent time in Crew this term researching their options for the future. Ms Burns has provided expert guidance and online accounts to help find out more about options such as apprenticeships, employment and university study. This knowledge has informed choices about GCSE options. Many pupils have chosen to become Leaders of their Own Learning by opting to study a GCSE independently, which is super impressive! It was such a delight to see the enthusiasm and teamwork as groups formed to discuss the specifications and potential final products. Great work everyone!

Special appreciation to the star of the praise log for Crew Obama who has so far logged 18 praises this term, with no conducts at all. Wow!

Lost property

These are photos of items from lost property. If they belong to your child, can they be collected from XP east office before the end of the day tomorrow.

Thank you

Last day of term: Friday 27th May

Hi all.

Just a quick reminder that the last day of term is a 1.30pm finish. There is no provision for students to stay in school after that time. This is to allow all staff to de-gunge the school ready for the new term.

We hope you all have a lovely week.

Best wishes.

Crew Ardern

Crew Ardern had the opportunity to be stewards of the community last week. We went around the school grounds to ensure it was looking beautiful. We were making sure to look after our planet and spread an important message about keeping our environment clean, enabling it to flourish! We discussed as a crew the importance of this!

After some hard work, we relaxed with a game of foot and hand tennis, which our crew absolutely loved!
