Year 8 have been working exceptionally hard since their POL on Wednesday night! They have started immersion for their new expedition by researching and designing their own countries through a Citizenship lens. Students discussed key international organisations, grappled with existing forms of government and even wrote their own national anthems. Explorer then voted on the country they would most like to migrate too.. watch the video to find out our Winner!

For the most part of the week, students will be based at their respective school (Tues, Wed, Fri) and completing fieldwork for one day (Thurs).
Key points outlined here:
- Students will be walking to their fieldwork destination on Thursday and therefore it is important they wear appropriate footwear.
- Students will require items from the kit list in order to support fieldwork.
- Students will require a packed lunch for Thursday’s fieldwork.
- Students will be required to attend from 8:30am every morning and will be dismissed at 3:15pm each day.
- Students will be completing physical activity in school and should therefore come dressed appropriately with suitable footwear.
Should you have any questions about our first week back plans, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s Crew Leader who will be happy to support you further.
We hope you have a wonderful Summer and look forward to seeing you in the new academic year!

Crew White
Crew White have hit the ground running this term, straight back to school and into immersion for their next exhibition. They have returned with a great attitude to their learning and arrived at school every day with their equipment and a charged device ready to go-yey!!
During Crew time we are working hard on SLC prep, it is great to see how committed they are to getting this right, and to showcase to parents and carers their beautiful work whilst also showing off their academic progress. To see them actively be leaders of their own learning, and their drive to better themselves blows me away. I often forget they have only had 1 term here at XP, they are like old pros. A special mention has to go out to Dania, she has been working so hard on the most beautiful script, seeking critique, then going away and improving, only for it to be lost in cyber space and have to start all over again. Dania hasn’t moaned once, she just went away and grappled to catch back up. What a super star, I’m really proud of her. I can’t wait for you to hear them all next week.

XPD Outdoors – Hits the ground running!
What an awesome start to the year. XP Outdoors has really taken off this year and we have some amazing stories to share with you.
We started the term with a getting to know each other session andwe played crew building games. It was a fantastic way to find out more about each other and for staff to build relationships with students.
From here we moved on to safety protocols and expectations. Being in an outdoor environment comes with some risks and C29 certainly took on board the different safety protocols we discussed to ensure each student was safe at all times.
Our first activities were a huge success and enjoyed by students and staff. Heading down to the firepit and garden area, students took part in Hapa Zome – an ancient Japanese Fabric dying activity and Leaf Art. Here are some of our products from the sessions.
Students grappled and supported each other and were able to produce some amazing crafts.
Alongside this students also took part in a CampFire activity. Where we enjoyed biscuits and Hot Chocolate (like by a few students). We were blown away by their engagement and behaviour during the activity. Students were able to all take part and play a role during the session, from making hot chocolate to handing out biscuits and washing up the cups. It was awesome to see everyone working together as crew!
Here are a few snaps from the sessions.
As the colder weather is approaching students are reminded that additional clothing may be required. Please come prepared for all eventualities, we would love to be outdoors as much as we can.
We are looking forward to next term’s activities and can not wait to see what amazing products the students produce.
