C26: Coastal walk on 1st September

As ever, we will be kicking off our first week back at school by regrouping and rebooting Crew.

On Thursday 1st September – our C26 students (new Y10) will be going on a coastal walk to Flamborough.

Students should arrive at school between 8am-8.15am so that we can leave at 8.30am.  We are aiming to be back at school by 3.30pm, but will keep you updated on the day.

All students will be expected to bring the Outdoor Kit listed below:

  • Appropriate rucksack for walking.
  • Packed lunch (those on FSM will be provided with a school pack lunch.)
  • Water bottle: approx 2 litres (no energy drinks, milkshakes or fizzy pop)
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Appropriate walking trousers/shorts/leggings for the weather.
  • Walking top/base layer; made from synthetic, man made material (polyester, nylon etc). This type of material removes sweat away from your skin keeping you cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather
  • Appropriate outdoor shoes (sturdy trainers, walking shoes or walking boots are compulsory – no open toe sandals, canvas shoes or sliders)
  • Sun hat/Sun cream
  • Medication

For further information or questions please email your child’s crew leader.

Extreme Weather Update

I am sure you are all aware that the Met Office has issue the first ever RED extreme heat warning for Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July, as temperatures will build this weekend and early next week for
much of England and Wales.

As a school we will be following government guidance:
● Avoiding outside sports and activities
● Reducing break times outside and eliminating them altogether if we feel the need when we assess the heat and amount of shade on the day
● Continuing to ventilate classrooms as much as possible including opening windows and doors earlier in the morning
● Moving lessons to the downstairs floors of our school buildings wherever possible
● low intensity PE sessions only will take place on these days
● Children will continue to have the opportunity to fill water bottles

Where we are able to have fans in classrooms we will do so to support the ventilation

We ask you to support for the rest of the term by:
● Encouraging your children to wear loose fitting, light coloured and comfortable clothing which supports them to keep cool
● Ensuring your children apply sun cream before attending school and have sun cream to reply if they need to;
● Ensure your children have sun hats
● Encourage your children to bring their water bottles

¡BUEN TRABAJO!, Crew Turing!

Mollie & Callum did Crew Turing proud at tonight’s Madrid Fieldwork Presentation of Learning. It was AWESOME to hear about what they had been up to – although we’re not sure we’d have managed as many rides as they did at the Warner Bros Studios!

Fantastic work, guys. You’re already making us proud!

Miss Cocliff & Mrs Parker x

Due to the rising temperature. The Presentation of Learning for Year 7 will be changed to Wednesday the 20th of July.

Year 7 XP East students would like to invite you to their Presentation of Learning. This presentation is the final one for year 7 until their next one in year 8! It is a great opportunity to see all the learning your child has done during their expedition “What a Wonderful World”. This will start at 4pm and last until approximately 5pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Crew Obama litter pick 15/07/22

“This morning Crew Obama took part in litter picking. We went round the entire school and collected rubbish. People split up into different groups and picked litter separately. We collected loads of litter and almost filled up two bags of litter. Even though we collected loads of litter it would be better if there was no rubbish at all.We are stewards of this school and we shouldn’t be disrespecting the school ground that we use everyday and we should take care of it.” A member of Crew Obama.

Lost property

Please check the photos of lost property that has accumulated at XP East. Claim your items from the office by the end of term or they will be donated to charity.

Women’s European Football Fieldwork

Last night a selection of students from XP and XP East attended the Group D match up between tournament favourites France and Belgium. The students had a brilliant evening at Rotherham’s New York Stadium accompanied by the PE team. The game was a exciting one played at a fast pace where underdogs Belgium pushed France all the way seeing out a 2-1 victory, not helped by captain Wendie Renard who missed a penalty and the ensuing open goal after VAR gave France a penalty for a handball in the box. Good luck to both teams for the rest of the tournament but hopefully football is coming home with the lionesses. Come on England.
