Well done to the members of crew Boseman for their fantastic effort in completing their student led conferences. I have been really impressed with the level of reflection and attention to detail in their work. Keep up the good work!!
Mr Stables
First Week back to the term and what an amazing week it has been. For part of Year 9’s expedition they had the honour to go to the Thackeray Museum in Leeds to have a look at diseases and medicines made back in the victorian times. As Crew Leader i was so proud and happy to see them learning and throwing themselves into every different room and the tasks.
They all showed Fantastic character traits and Howls! But most importantly how they respected the surrounding community as there were members of the public walking around. They presented themselves with compassion and using their manners.
What a fantastic way to start this term!
Miss Cade
As part of DOFE in year 9 they take it in turns to be stewards of our community by alternating Lost property and Litter Picking. Crew Da Vinci have been down to the office and have sorted through all of the lost property. The photos will be attached down below:
If you see anything or recognise anything that belongs to you then please make your way to reception! If these items aren’t
picked up by the 10th of March they will be donated to a charity.
Thanks Crew Da Vinci.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our school has been chosen to support Public Health, in Doncaster Council, by participating in a Borough-wide questionnaire of young people’s health behaviour.
The school and the health of our children and young people will benefit greatly from taking part in this questionnaire, as it will allow us to identify where we should focus our efforts in making sure our pupils are the healthiest they can be.
The results of the questionnaire may prompt review of the curriculum and have also been used in a variety of ways including:
1. As a starting point for discussion in classroom activities.
2. As a guide in the choice of resources.
3. As a prompt for appropriate timing of courses.
4. As a beginning for further enquiry to strengthen existing programmes, e.g., in PE.
5. As a starting point for discussions between parents and schools.
The questionnaire has been developed by PFA Research Ltd, in partnership with the Public Health department and the questions cover a wide range of health behaviours, including:
There are questions of a sensitive nature, for example, asking children about bullying, safety issues including exposure to knives, and attitudes to safety online. The content of the questionnaire has been developed with great care and has been approved as acceptable by Public Health Specialists and Safeguarding Leads.
The survey is GDPR compliant with each questionnaire completely anonymous and confidential. There are no personal details that would identify your child and no ability to trace your child’s results at any point during the completion of the survey or the subsequent report. Both your school and Doncaster Council will receive a report with a summary of all results across Doncaster as well as results from your school.
I hope you will agree with us that this is an exercise in which we wish to cooperate fully. If you have any concerns or wish to discuss this further please contact Mr Tucker, Leader of Key Stage Three, at [email protected] .
The questionnaire will be carried out before the end of term.
Happy Friday! Here’s a selection of beautiful work from across the XP Trust this week!

Students in E29 went to the Staffordshire Regiment Museum to learn all about World War one specifically looking at life in the trenches, the uniform they wore, and the weapons they used. Students had an opportunity to speak to volunteers dressed like German Soldiers who spoke to the students about the difference between German and British trenches.
XP’s first ever visit to the University of Cambridge took place just prior to half term as a follow on activity after presentations delivered in school. Places were fully funded by the University of Cambridge, and we are very grateful to them for this opportunity. All pupils on this visit completed a written application to Phase Leads outlining their suitability for the visit and only the most detailed and carefully crafted applications were successful. This provided pupils with a valuable opportunity for self reflection.
Despite the early departure of 6.30am, everyone arrived at school on time and in high spirits. We shared the coach with other schools from the Yorkshire region, which provided opportunities to make new similarly minded connections.
We were hosted by Homerton College where we were able to look around the student accommodation and enjoyed lunch in the main dining room. The student guides who showed us around were Doncaster expats, which we really appreciated. It helped our XP pupils realise that Cambridge is a university destination for Northerners too! Pupils chose to attend either a history lecture about the Elizabethans or a STEM lecture about cancer research. This was a great opportunity for pupils to experience university teaching and many were confident to question the lecturers further about their work. Some of us even got to meet (and speak to) Simon, the principal at Homerton College!
We enjoyed a guided tour of the city centre where we admired the architecture of the various colleges, watched students punting on the river and noticed landmarks such as the Corpus Clock. Pupils also enjoyed spotting their favourite shops and takeaways (essential aspects of student life!)
Everyone returned home tired after a long day but feeling it was worth it. Staff would like to appreciate all pupils for their great company and conduct throughout the day – what a wonderful day we had!

A new term a new start. Mercury got a shock on their first Wednesday back. As a crew, we should work together and run crew in the way that we want it run. This is obviously within the ethos of the school! I was very shocked that by Y10, Crew Mercury, are under the impression that this is simply so that we can “use it as a stick to beat them with”. With one response being “why just ask to us repeat everything that you would say”. At this point I explained to crew that I was going to leave them for 10 minutes (I didn’t go far) after 10 minutes I went back and they were creating their Norms poster, they immediately said “we’re not done yet can you give us more time”. I was very proud that they took this on and completed it, knowing that it is their thoughts.
In addition to this, before the end of last term, students took it upon themselves to add pictures from their experiences in Wales to our crew wall. Awesome.
