A HOWL-ing end to the year!

A quick Christmas message from me!

I’ve chosen this photo from Christmas Jumper day to be our Official Crew Christmas Card.

(Can I just point out that no students were harmed during the taking of this photo, despite the look on Ali’s face haha!!)

Before I update you all on what we’ve been up to in Crew, I just wanted to give my personal thanks to all my Crew Parents for your unwavering support of myself and the school.  I’ve really missed not being able to catch up with you face-to-face during SLCs or Presentations of Learning, but it’s so reassuring to know that whenever I phone you or send you an email, you’re always 100% behind what we do.

Thank you for being part of our Crew – I certainly couldn’t do this without you 🙂

I know Christmas is going to look and feel very different for a lot of us this year, but I’m sending you the sincerest of best wishes and hope you all have a restful break.

A massive appreciation to our Y10 families who donated items and gifts for our Christmas Hampers.  Here are Silver DofE students Mackenzie and Thomas sorting out the boxes, which will be delivered to St John The Evangelist Church in Balby and The Trussell Trust at Christ Church next week.

We’re still accepting donations, but anything received after Monday 15th December will be donated to our school’s Kindness Boxes instead.

Thank you.

Covid19 isolation period enquiries…

EDIT / Additional update: This morning I phoned Public Health Doncaster who referred my enquiry to a Consultant – they have just emailed me the following:

Thank you for contacting the Public Health enquiries, in light of the Government announcement the isolation period will reduce from 14 days to 10 for close contacts as from Monday 14 December. The Government has not yet, however, updated the online guidance with these changes and this is still awaited.

I will keep trying. JP

Original post from yesterday:

In order to respond to enquiries from parents, I can confirm the following…

We understand that the BBC has been made aware of information that the nationally recognised 14 day Covid isolation period will be reduced to 10 days from Monday 11th December. This would affect the return date of the year groups that are having to isolate at our schools. However, when we contacted the Department for Education’s Covid helpline at 4:30pm this afternoon they said that the Government had not informed them of any changes.

Nevertheless, we will keep calling the helpline over the weekend in order to make enquiries about how any potential changes will affect our students. Stay tuned for any further updates.

Last day of term – Thursday 17th December

In light of the track and trace expectations for our senior leaders / safeguarding team, I believe it is only right that we end our term on Thursday 17th December. I acknowledge that this is short notice, however the Department for Education’s announcement was not made until late yesterday. The DfE has stated that this will allow schools to have ‘…six clear days so that by Christmas Eve staff can have a proper break without having to engage in track and trace’.

In order to ensure we follow the track and trace guidance over the Christmas period, specifically 17th -23rd December, we ask that any positive cases in staff or children are communicated to us as soon as possible, via one of the Phase Leader email addresses below so we are able to communicate with any bubbles who may need to isolate, if this is the case.

If you have any concerns around any of this please liaise with your child’s Crew Leader in the first instance.

The following email addresses will be checked daily 17th-23rd December and then sporadically over the remainder of the christmas break.

Best wishes, Jamie Portman

Unfortunately, due to X25 having to self-isolate over the last month, we are having to postpone the presentation of learning that was scheduled to go live tonight until the new year.

We’ll be sharing a new calendar event over the break to reschedule the online stream in January, we look forward to presenting the work that the Y9s have produced. Thank you for your continued support!

Ipad Scheme Support

iPad claims

For any questions about the ipad scheme that your crew leader is unable to answer, please email [email protected]

Ipad insurance claims:

If you need to make a claim on the insurance for an iPad that was purchased through the school iPad scheme parents can either raise a ticket on the website here https://edutech.zone/parent_enquiries/ or you can email directly at [email protected]

Once a claim is raised the insurer arranges collection, the iPad is then repaired or a replacement is sent out to the parent.

This information is available on the website under the ‘parent’ menu for future reference.

XP may be able to provide a temporary device while devices are being fixed or replaced, however this is dependant on availability and must be organised through crew leaders.

Mindful Monday meets some smashing snowflakes!

With thoughts turning to this festive time of year, and as we slowly wind up towards the end of term (next Friday 18th Nov) and dig out our Christmas jumpers for our charity event this Friday, Crew Young spent Mindful Monday  today making snowflakes, using resources and an instructional video provided by Miss Taylor courtesy of the National History Museum. Appreciations to Miss Taylor for her contribution to our Crew!

XP16 Act of Christmas Kindness:

XP16 students spent some of crew serving hot chocolate and mince pies to XP’s staff to thank them for their hard work and support during this very difficult time. Students also got a chance to put their creative skills to use by making Christmas wood cookie decorations for our Christmas tree. It was a wonderful morning full of good spirit and a sense of togetherness. We had lots of appreciations from staff to our students who said it was a real treat and felt very appreciated.

Here are some photos:

Have a wonderful CHRISTMAS and see you in the NEW YEAR! X
