Further to the Spring Newsletter which you will have received earlier in the year, please find the attached letter which details some additions to our current offer of Extended Study and study support. Last term E26 Year 10 worked hard to produce their second Spanish product. They drafted a written piece about a family (fact or fiction), then recorded themselves describing a family photo. Here is their beautiful work, complete with their crafted voice recordings.
Please check your emails as we have sent our XP and XP East School parents and carers a letter to inform you of the plans we now have in place for our students for the upcoming NEU Teachers Union Strike Action days.
These days are Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March 2023.
Year 11 have been working hard to complete their active citizenship aspect of their course. This has involved them supporting their local community and making a difference. There have been so many amazing ideas, from litter picking to cooking to raise money for the local foodbanks. It has been amazing to see how year 11 are putting all of their activism skill into practice!
On Tuesday’s we have been focusing on our reading as part of the Crew curriculum ‘Tranquil Tuesday.’ There has been some amazing efforts from all of them, but a special mention has to go to Jaden. In a week Jaden has read a whopping 100 pages of his book. Jaden also had the most praise points last week in our year group. He really is a stand out student at the moment, keep up the good work! Here is a picture of him studying a postcard on our recent visit to the Staffordshire Regiment museum, it was a postcard from a soldier in WW1 sent to his parents.
This last couple of weeks Crew Malala has had some really significant successes! Not only have we had 100% attendance for the last two weeks and been top of the attendance league, but we also won the World Book Day quiz achieving 34 out the 35 questions correctly!
However our success is also paying off in lessons. Crew Malala is working hard, getting smart and being kind.
Fasia earned the most praise points in year 8 for the week beginning 20th February.
We also dropped into Maths on Friday lesson 5. At the end of the lesson every member of Crew Malala was nominated for praise from either their peers or Miss Mountain (their maths teacher). It was a really proud moment to hear other students recognising that our Crew are working hard.
A big shout out to Jack and Emily too, as last week they both represented the school at the Indoor Athletics tournament.
Finally, Deanna and Alex have both won major speaking parts in the school’s production of Macbeth. Please keep checking the website for details and performance dates.
