Taster session am is 9.15 – 11.30, pm is 12.30 – 2pm
Taster day letters will be given out to students in Crew on Tuesday 25th June. Students cannot change their allocated taster option as we have staffed appropriate tasters according to numbers attending and group sizes have been set. This is not to say we cannot alter anything. We may be able to make slight adjustments to consider new starters, sickness etc.
Please remind students that clothing/safety equipment requirements are indicated in their letter.
Where requirements are indicated, please let school know if pupils do not have the required clothing, safety footwear/overalls etc. We have a limited supply and will endeavour to help.
Lunch vouchers will be available for staff attending and students entitled to free lunches, please can you provide the number of students on FSM.
Students can bring packed lunch or will be able to purchase lunch in our canteen.
We have booked transport to pick up approximately 08:30 or soon after registration. Students will be back at school by the end of the school day.
Walking through nettles. Sitting in the shade. Following the Countryside Code. Helping each other. Making friends with a horse. Digging deep. Laughing. What a day.
Congratulations to all of Crew Malala for completing their D of E Bronze. Massive thanks to Mrs. Mawby who supervised us and made sure we made it through safely. Well done everyone. We are so proud of you.
We have just left Norton to return to XP East to degunge. The coach was delayed collecting us by almost an hour, however we have started degunge before leaving and therefore we are hopeful to still meet our 6pm finish in readiness for collection. We have lots of tired children.
Plover School is excited to join the “Walk and Wheel Challenge” by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. This fun initiative gets kids walking, cycling, and wheeling to school, making travel safer and healthier.
But that’s not all! The students are also tackling a big issue – problematic parking around the school. They’ve made a video asking everyone to park considerately so driveways aren’t blocked and crossing the road stays safe.
Spread the word, watch their video, and look out for their signs around the area to support their efforts.
A Message from C29
‘This week, our school hosted the Conversation Club, shedding light on the challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers. One major expense is transportation, but we realised that having a bike could eliminate this cost and provide free, reliable transport.
In response, we are organising a bike drive, inviting the community to donate any old bikes, which will be invaluable to those in need. You can drop off your bike donations at XP Doncaster, and we will ensure they are distributed by the Conversation Club to refugees and asylum seekers, helping to ease their daily struggles. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.’
During C28’s First week back in year 10 (which is insane!!), we’ll be completing a number of activities to positively impact our community (and that’s all i’ll say for now!).
As part of this, we’ll be running a clothes drive; focusing on protecting our planet; looking through the lens of sustainability & recycling, whilst also helping others in our community.
If, on the run up to or over summer, you have a clear out, or have any clothing or footwear items you could donate (of all sizes, kids and adults, in a wearable condition!), we’re asking that you bring the items to XP Reception (preferably bagged!).
We’re happy to start collecting this from now, with a view to donate the clothing towards the end of the first week back.
“Around 20% of the UK Population (13,500,000 people) was estimated to be living in poverty in the UK 2018. We found out first hand, that people that fall just above this line are struggling more than ever to clothe themselves or their family after having to pay for the everyday living costs. Due to the current climate we can only expect this number to inflate. Right now, more than ever, people need the security of being able to clothe themselves and their loved ones.” Sally Parkinson CO-Founder | The Clothing Bank
With exams finally over, we have spent this week enjoying Y11’s Final Word presentations which have given students the opportunity to reflect on their time at XP/XPE and truly appreciate both their academic and character growth. There may even have been a few tears shed… (OK, so maybe that was just us!)
Students who have presented their Final Word (or have booked to do so next week) will receive an invitation to our Leavers Celebration on Friday 28th June.
This is the plan for the afternoon:
1.15-2.15: Arrival and shirt-signing.
2.15-3.15: Our final inter-crew competition!
Parents are invited to join us from 3.15 for the rest of the afternoon’s celebrations – please head to XP East.
3.30-4pm: Y11 Community Meeting, including our Crew Hero awards!
4pm-5.30: Refreshments… and a few surprises!
See you all soon – hopefully the weather will be kind to us!
Crew Ardern set off on their Duke of Edinburgh expedition yesterday. It was a warm day and one where students had to show teamwork, resilience and communication skills to work their way back to camp. We returned to camp around 6pm, where we had food, relaxed and engaged in some activities. We look forward to setting off for the second half of the expedition this morning. (Although there are some tired bodies and minds).
Crew Malala had a very long, very warm, but very successful Day 1 of their D of E Bronze Expedition. Students packed up and left school this morning, setting off for a 10K walk from Norton Junior School to Brockadale Nature Reserve and back again. Students worked on teamwork, listening skills, supporting one another, and digging deep. It was a tough but rewarding day. Please check out the first round of photos. More to come tomorrow!
