In today’s Y10 community meeting, we celebrated this term’s Crew achievements and all round awesomeness!
We took some time to check in on some of the student pledges made at the beginning of the term:
At the beginning of term, August had pledged to ask more questions in class if they were unsure of something, and that is something they have got better at this term.
Seth had pledged to get more praises logged than conducts and we were pleased to see that he had achieved this.
Leo acknowledged that, although he had made some progress, he needed to work a little bit harder to achieve his pledge of managing his distractions in class.
We will continue to check in on these throughout next term.
Please see the slides above to see which students were appreciated and celebrated for most improved attendance and most praises. Crew Da Vinci were definitely the stars of the term – testament to the great work Miss Askin is doing as Crew Leader.
Crew Leaders also nominated their Crew Superstar. Congratulations to:
Manveer for Crew Rashford for her consistent hard work and for always being kind.
Seth for Crew Da Vinci for his amazing turn around this term, coming in every day with a positive attitude and a smile on his face.
Olivia for Crew Curie for having an amazing turn around in sessions and being resilient with her work experience.
Miss Ibbotson couldn’t choose one person, so we have 4 Crew Superstars for Crew Marx:
Kiahnna: Always kid, shows up every day, works hard, is kind and compassionate! Absolute legend!
Violet: Shows up to school everyday with a smile and is kind to everyone that comes across her.
Alex: Works so hard, is always doing the right thing and is an all round amazing student.
Riley: Smashing school at the moment and has come a long way since Y7. He needs to be recognised for the hard work he does and how hard he is trying to do well!
Finally, we said farewell to Keegan who is leaving us at the end of term. We’ll be sad to see him go, but are excited for his new chapter. Keegan – you will always be Crew 🙂
We’re looking forward to a jam-packed final term with Y10 (again, please see the slides above for what’s coming up for them!) and I hoping we’ll have much to celebrate at the end of next term as we have this term.
We are pleased to announce our Parent Drop-In evening. This event provides an excellent opportunity for you to ask questions and seek guidance on your child’s next steps as they transition into Key Stage 4 and begin their Leading Our Own Learning (LooL).
The Parent Drop-In will be held on Thursday, 6th June, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. During this time, you will have the chance to meet with subject teachers and gain valuable insights into what to expect for LooL. We encourage you to take advantage of this drop in event, to ensure you and your child are well-prepared for the exciting journey ahead.
We look forward to seeing you there and supporting your child’s educational development.
If you are unable to attend, information can be shared by crew leaders, please contact them for this info.
As the weather is starting to get warmer and the sun is shining we advise that students bring suncream to school for PE. Students will also need to make sure they have a water bottle filled up.
E29 Explorer has worked so hard this week! In History we have been studying key time periods regarding migration and analysing trends through historical enquiries. We finished a fantastic week, sat in the sunshine reading our anchor text Boy Everywhere this afternoon. Students shared discussions around the treatment of migrants, the harrowing descriptions of journeys made to a safer space, and did so with the most remarkable compassion. What a week!
Since 2019 we have been working with the educational charity The Wood Foundation, which is based in Scotland. Dozens of educators from schools in the Aberdeen area have been visiting our Trust as delegates for the last four years – learning about Crew, expeditions and Leadership.
This week for the first time colleagues from our Trust, including our CAO Andy, had the opportunity to deliver CPD to teachers in Aberdeen, visiting schools and meeting students. It was heartwarming and humbling to see Crew – sometimes called Squads and Clans north of the border – being delivered in Scotland.
We look forward to welcoming more delegates to our Trust schools in the future and travelling back to support our new friends as they continue their Crew journey.
There Is No Planet B – Product Curation at Norton Juniors
The beautiful work from LKS2’s Expedition ‘There Is No Planet B’ is now curated outside the school! The awesome artwork, created from digital images of discarded waste, depicts various different animals whose habitats are being destroyed in the local community. To further reinforce the notion of climate emergency, through their literacy cycle, pupils also wrote persuasive speeches about how we can all bring about positive change if we work together.
Over the last two weeks History and Ethics have taken C27 to the Holocaust museum. We are so proud of the compassion that was shown by all students and appreciated having the opportunity to meet with survivors of the Holocaust and hear their stories.
