Building on last week’s XP visit, Year 8 students at XP East have the amazing opportunity to take part in a day of art workshops in Leeds for fieldwork linked to their ‘Being Human’ expedition.
One of the basics of humanity is our ability to create, and the students will be involved in practical workshops from the Leeds Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Institute on Wednesday the 4th December.
This fieldwork will take place during the normal school day so it is important that your child arrives on time for the coach which will leave during crew.
All costs are covered by school, and please make sure your child brings a packed lunch as they will be eating in the gallery spaces. Free school meals will be provided for students who usually have them.
Save the date! C28 are delighted to invite you to a Celebration of Learning as the conclusion to their expedition ’Raiders and Invaders’. The celebration will take place at XP East on Tuesday 17th December.
E28 (Y10 XP East) will present their learning from 4-4:45pm, and X28 (Y10 XP) will share their learning from 5-5:45pm.
Crew White Welcomes Experts from The Eve Merton Trust
This week, Crew White had the privilege of hosting representatives from The Eve Merton Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting families affected by cancer. Their visit gave us valuable insights into the incredible work they do, and we are so grateful for the time they spent with us.
The trust’s mission to provide support to families in our community who are navigating one of the toughest challenges in life deeply resonated with all of us. Through their heartfelt stories and examples of the difference their work makes, they inspired us to reflect on how we, as a Crew, can play a part in their mission.
During their visit, Crew White showed compassion and respect, listening attentively and asking thoughtful questions about how we can get involved. Whether it’s through fundraising, volunteering, or raising awareness about their efforts, we’re excited about exploring ways to help The Eve Merton Trust continue their impactful work.
We would like to invite parents and carers to Y11’s Teacher-Student Led conferences on Wednesday, 27th November 2024.
These conferences will provide parents with an opportunity to meet with subject-specific teachers, allow students to discuss and reflect on their progress in different subjects following their recent mock exams and look at areas for development as they move into Y11.
Students will be given a booking form which will allow them to book a time between 15:30 and 18:30. These will be booked on a first come first served basis so please ask your child to see their booking form and suggest a time to meet teaching staff.

EYFS pupils from Green Top embarked on a cross-curricular expedition to explore the guiding question, “How do we show we care?” Through engaging activities and three case studies, they learned about kindness, empathy, and their place in the world. Immersion began with The Everywhere Bear, inspiring children to care for a crew teddy bear and fostering classroom environments of love and kindness. Hook week focused on settling children into school while emphasising kindness as a superpower.
Case studies included visits from the school nursing team, exploration of stories like Dogger and The Smartest Giant in Town to examine feelings and actions, and activities like kindness pledges, litter picking, and porridge-making tied to Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Celebrations like Bonfire Night and remembrance activities deepened understanding of history and empathy. In the final case study, children compared global settings through books like Elmer and participated in charitable actions, including creating a board for the DRI children’s ward with the message “You are special. You are loved. We care,” alongside donations from their sponsored walk.
Gifts from our Visitors!
Since our first XP school opened we have been welcoming visitors from all over the world. In the last three years the number of global delegates across our Trust has run into the thousands.
Whether sole visitors or part of a group; for example twice in the last year over 60 students from Hong Kong joined us in one day; what these guests bring to our schools is invaluable.
Our students love to take them on Ambassador tours and our staff deliver CPD that allows us to share what we do and how and why we do it.
Sometimes we are presented with thoughtful gifts, which form part of a display in our Comms area shop at XPE.
A boomerang from Australia, a lucky panda drawing from a school in Hong Kong, biscuits from the Netherlands, Chocolates from Switzerland, pens from Australia and beautiful textiles from India are just some of the special thank you’s we have received.
Thursday Night Live!
We’re looking for a Leading Learning Coach at Plover
This morning during our Crew session, year 9’s tackled the lost property and carried out a litter pick around the school grounds. This work is vital in contributing towards their volunteering hours as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award.
If you recognise any items, please send your child to collect from reception. Anything left on Monday will be donated to charity.
