Dear Parents and Carers,
Our school has been chosen to support Public Health, in Doncaster Council, by participating in a Borough-wide questionnaire of young people’s health behaviour.
The school and the health of our children and young people will benefit greatly from taking part in this questionnaire, as it will allow us to identify where we should focus our efforts in making sure our pupils are the healthiest they can be.
The results of the questionnaire may prompt review of the curriculum and have also been used in a variety of ways including:
1. As a starting point for discussion in classroom activities.
2. As a guide in the choice of resources.
3. As a prompt for appropriate timing of courses.
4. As a beginning for further enquiry to strengthen existing programmes, e.g., in PE.
5. As a starting point for discussions between parents and schools.
The questionnaire has been developed by PFA Research Ltd, in partnership with the Public Health department and the questions cover a wide range of health behaviours, including:
- Healthy eating
- Physical activity
- Safety
- Emotional health and well-being
- Exploratory health behaviours
There are questions of a sensitive nature, for example, asking children about bullying, safety issues including exposure to knives, and attitudes to safety online. The content of the questionnaire has been developed with great care and has been approved as acceptable by Public Health Specialists and Safeguarding Leads.
The survey is GDPR compliant with each questionnaire completely anonymous and confidential. There are no personal details that would identify your child and no ability to trace your child’s results at any point during the completion of the survey or the subsequent report. Both your school and Doncaster Council will receive a report with a summary of all results across Doncaster as well as results from your school.
I hope you will agree with us that this is an exercise in which we wish to cooperate fully. If you have any concerns or wish to discuss this further please contact Mr Tucker, Leader of Key Stage Three, at [email protected] .
The questionnaire will be carried out before the end of term.
