Crew Rashford

Academic Crew

During academic crew we have been considering what our HoWLs look like and how we can set mini pledges to support improving them.

Reviewing where we are at each weeks helps students set and recognise that they are improving their HoWLs week by week.

Students’ HoWLs Snapshots will be sent home next term.

DofE

This week we have been learning about Asthma Attacks – Signs and symptoms, what to do in an emergency situation and how students can support someone experiencing an attack.

Christmas Jumper day at XP & XP East

On Thursday 8th December, XP & XP East will be taking part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.

We’re asking pupils to donate £1 (or however much they can give), to support children in the UK and around the world.

By taking part we’ll be helping kids who don’t have the basics they need to survive – like food, school or medicine.

To make donating easier and safer this year we’ve set up our own Just Giving page. You can donate directly here. Or scan the QR code below (you can bring £1 cash in on the day – that’s fine)

We’d really appreciate your support to make Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day a success.

Together, we can make the world better with a sweater.

World Cup 2022

Dear parents and carers,
As I am sure many of you are aware the world Cup is fast approaching. We know that there is controversy surrounding the hosts of this and that there are some issues regarding Qatar. Many of our students are asking whether we will be watching the England match next week, as you know we engaged with the Rugby World Cup in recent weeks through after school events. The purpose of this blog is to clarify our position around the controversy and what we intend to do with students to support their education in regards to this.
It is important that we make it clear that as a school with strongly disagree with Qatar’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights and are concerned about their ongoing human rights record. As a school we have activism as a pillar of our curriculum and know it is important that as citizens of the UK we support our pupils in learning how to respectfully fight for what they believe is right. At the heart of this education is teaching our pupils the importance of having choice and valuing the choices they have in the UK.
Leaders with specialisms in this area have met and have decided that we will move forward in a number of ways.
Firstly we will have special crew sessions this week planned by our specialists to ensure that pupils are aware of what the controversy is about and highlighting where people’s concerns are coming from.
Secondly we will be allowing pupils to view one of the matches in school on the 21st of November, but will be offering an alternative for those who choose not to participate. This will be a combination of planned sessions which will support the current expeditions children are in and for year 11 there will be additional specialist revision sessions in preparation for their mock exams.
We hope that you will support us in this decision but if you do have any questions or further concerns please feel free to contact school via the office or your child’s crew leader and we will happily discuss it further.

C25 Mock Exams

We’re looking forward to welcoming Y11 back from their work experience week and will be cracking straight on with our mock exam preparation!

Y11 will sit mock exams from 29th November until 14th December, as detailed in the timetable above.

Revision sessions will continue to run during lunchtime and after school and attendance at these is very much encouraged. We will also run a D6 session on Saturday 3rd December for those students who would like to get together in study groups, or just need a quiet space to revise.

As we move closer to final exams, we will be inviting our C25 parents/carers to a GCSE information evening in the next year – an email will be sent out with details soon.
