Beautiful Work This Week

Expedition Stories: UKS2 @ Plover

This week we’re proud to share the beautiful story of UKS2s Expedition from last term ‘Earth Emergency’. The carefully designed planters and greenhouse will surely be a catalyst for Plover growing its own produce for generations to come!

Beautiful Curation at XP Doncaster

XP on the TV!

For anyone who missed it – XP Doncaster has been featured in a BBC Two documentary which aired on the 7th March. All episodes are available on BBC iPlayer now.

We’d like to thank everyone who has got in touch or left a comment about the programme – we are so proud of our students and how eloquently they expressed how they feel about their school.

If you’d like to learn more about our schools and how you can do what we do too, you can get a copy of our book How We XP here.

C30 Year 7 Fieldwork to the Doncaster Gurdwara

On Wednesday 20th March Year 7 XP East students will be taking part in fieldwork to the Doncaster Gurdwara. Followed by Year 7 XP students on Friday 22nd March.

This fieldwork has been planned to support their learning in humanities and the expedition ‘Do your bit’. It is a brilliant opportunity to bring the students’ learning to life in an exciting and engaging way. Students will find out more about Sikhism and the Gurdwara itself. The experience will be used to support learning back in the classroom to help the children better understand the content and develop a deeper understanding of the subject/expedition.
We will depart school at 10am and our expected arrival time back at school is 12.30pm.

Students must bring a head scarf (we can provide scarves if students are struggling for one) and they must be wearing clean socks (they will be asked to remove their shoes).

The visit will be in the morning so lunch time will not be affected.

If you have any questions about the visit please get in touch with your child’s Crew Leader or myself by emailing [email protected]

Thanks Mrs Batty

FXP Tuck Shop

Thank you for your support of the first FXP tuck shop held this morning. Students and staff gathered at break to buy delicious treats, raising money for FXP. Today we raised £102 in just 15 minutes! All the money raised will be used for future XP projects, helping all of the schools of the XP Trust.

FXP are always on the look out for more volunteers and donations. In order to boost fundraising, we need more donations. For this event we received two. We appreciate all the help we received this time and wish to continue this moving forward, but we need your help so we can raise more. Look out for the FXP leaflet coming out soon with further details on how to support FXP.

Our next tuck shop date is Thursday 25th April. But first we have Easter Hamper Day on Thursday 28th March. We look forward to seeing you there!

Crew Frank working hard!

We have had a fantastic half term so far with everyone engaged in their revision – the motivation is continuing to increase. Attendance at learning labs has been amazing and MG has made the top of the year group leaderboard for praises two weeks in a row! Keep it up crew Frank!

Y8 Macbeth Leeds Playhouse Visit

In the ‘Fight the Power’ expedition, Year 8 have been studying Macbeth as our anchor text. We have been focusing on the theme of power and how Macbeth’s power rises and falls during the course of the play as well as the power dynamics between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

Students have been so engaged and working really hard getting their teeth stuck into Shakespeare so we are very excited about our upcoming fieldwork!

To support our expedition students, in Year 8 will be visiting Leeds Playhouse to watch a performance of Macbeth.

XP East will be attending on Wednesday the 13th March. We will be leaving during school time but as it is an afternoon showing we expect to be back at school between 4-4:30pm, depending on traffic.

XP will be attending on Tuesday the 19th March. Students will be setting off promptly so please make sure your child arrives no later than 8:30am.

Students will need to bring a pen, water bottle and packed lunch. Lunch will be provided for children on Free School Meals.

As always, the school will provide fieldwork free of charge but if you would like to support us please see our voluntary parental contribution letter.

If you have any queries about this fieldwork, please email [email protected] if your child is at XP or [email protected] if your child is at XP East.

Thank you!

Crew Da Vinci SLC

It’s been really lovely to support crew Da Vinci with their SLC. As it was my first time doing SLC’s I found crew worked with me and I was really impressed with their reflections.
