As you will be aware from a previous email, Y10 pupils will be out on fieldwork to the Bradford Literature Festival this week.
XP pupils will be out on Tuesday 2nd July, and XP East pupils will be out on Wednesday 3rd July.
Pupils need to be in school ready to be registered at 8.30am as usual and if traffic is kind we will be back for 3.15/3.30pm.
Pupils should bring a packed lunch (school will provide one for those entitled to free school meals), any inhalers or medication they usually have with them and something to write with/on.
Please check the letter emailed to you for further details. If you did not receive an email then please contact the school office to update your contact details.
On Friday we held our final community meeting with E26/Y11 – a chance to celebrate their many magnificent achievements and appreciate them for being an absolutely awesome year group! As promised, I have linked the slides above so that you can read all the super appreciations. And don’t forget to click on the last slide for our own ‘final word’ to you all 😉
E26 have been a dream to work with and we are all super proud that every single one of you are leaving us as kind, compassionate, respectful human beings. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you guys!
We’ll see you all again on the 22nd August for your GCSE results. Until then, have a great summer.
In 2023, XP had over 1000 visitors from all over the world – including India, Australia, America, Israel, Norway and Spain, just to name a few! As we continue to welcome more visitors, here’s what they’ve said about our students…
Exciting plans for Green Top – watch this space!
Friends of Norton Campus Summer Fair
This week we held our second Friends of Norton Campus Association Summer Fair. We were joined by members of our local community to raise funds for our schools. There were bouncy castles, penalty shoot outs, welly wanging and face painting.
Askern Community Brass Band provided the music – and there were plenty of sweet treats and snacks to enjoy too. Children were spending their pocket money on the hit the teacher coconut shy and sponge the teacher! Not forgetting we were joined by our special VIP’s Lenny and Alan (the alpacas!) We’re already looking forward to next year.
Huge well done to our sports leaders who supported the KS2 athletics event today. The students were fantastic role models leading events and supporting the staff. It is fantastic to see leaders of the future promoting physical activity.
Year 7’s current expedition ‘Hold Back the River’ has the guiding question, ‘How does water shape our world?’
During this expedition, our geography content is focusing on river characteristics from source to mouth, river processes, formation of landforms as well as the cause, impacts and responses of flooding. As part of this, we are applying the theory of river processes and characteristics to the field.
OnTuesday 2nd (East) and Thursday 4th (XP) of July, students will visit Endcliffe park in Sheffield. They will work together to collect data regarding the width, depth, velocity and load of rivers. We will also be capturing the beauty of a river by completing artwork. This data collection will allow us to accept or reject our hypothesis once we have analysed our data in our maths lessons.
Students will need to arrive at school no later than 8.00am so that the register and kit check can be completed before leaving school.
It is also essential that all students bring all of the kit on the KIT LIST so that they are fully prepared for the fieldwork; this includes a packed lunch and water to drink. Students who receive free school meals will be provided with a lunch.
Students will need to ensure they have suitable walking boots/trainers as well as wellies or a pair of trainers they can get wet – we’ll be going in the river to collect the data! If there are any problems in getting the appropriate kit before this, please email your child’s Crew Leader.
Students will be returning to school by the end of the school day (traffic dependent).
Below are photos of this week’s lost property. If you see anything that belongs to you, please claim it at the office. Anything that’s left will be donated at the end of the week.
