C30 students during the first week back took part in a colour run hosted on the back field to raise money for Diabetes UK and Age UK. The event was a huge success and all students involved gave it a 100% effort whilst having fun and laughter. Thank you to all the staff, students and parents for their support.
What an incredible start it has been for Crew KHE in E32, our brand-new Year 7 crew at XP East! The past two weeks have been full of adventure, teamwork, and settling into life at secondary school.
We began our XP journey with Outward Bound, where the crew showed courage and determination every single day. From climbing a mountain and abseiling to kayaking, canoeing, and orienteering, they pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and discovered just how much they can achieve when they work together. The highlight was definitely everyone leaping into the lake — a moment of pure joy and celebration after a week of challenges overcome.
Back in school, we’ve focused on what it means to “be crew, not passengers.” We’ve circled up, started morning check-ins, and agreed on crew norms to guide how we treat and support each other. It’s been inspiring to see Crew KHE already showing respect, kindness, and maturity — helping one another with worries, listening carefully in discussions, and making sure no one feels left out.
The crew have also enjoyed their first fieldwork with a trip to Murton Park, where they threw themselves into learning with curiosity and enthusiasm. Experiences like these show the power of connecting learning to the world beyond the classroom.
As this is my first time leading a crew, I’ll admit I felt a little nervous to begin with — but Crew KHE have made me feel right at home. Just as they’ve supported each other in these first weeks of secondary school, they’ve supported me too. I couldn’t be prouder of the way they’ve approached this big transition with courage and positivity.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue building our crew identity, settling into expeditions and lessons, and facing new challenges together.
Welcome back!

Hi all,
Just a quick message to keep you in the loop with the work going on behind the scenes!
As you can imagine, we’ve got quite the task ahead as we work to verify all the Bronze DofE Awards on the eDofE portal. Our incredible expedition supervisors are busy finalising individual reports for each student and passing them on to the award verifier. It’s a big job – but we’re on it!
Our goal is to have everything completed by the end of term. Once that’s done, we’ll be sharing details about a very special Celebration of Learning event and an official Award Ceremony, we’re currently looking at the last week of September for this. Stay tuned for more info soon!
As ever, if you have any questions, please contact your child’s Crew Leader in the first instance.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
DofE Crew.
After a fantastic day, E32 are back on the bus – ETA back to school 3:35pm (traffic depending!)
“Miss, would you like to see my pencil drawings?” “I’d love to see them, Freya.”
I had no idea how incredibly intricate and beautiful her pencil drawings really are. The level of detail is so impressive, and Freya has really demonstrated our character trait of Craftsmanship and Quality. The flower drawing took around six hours. They’re too beautiful to not share with the world. Beautiful, stunning work Freya.
Year 7 students have arrived at Murton Park and are currently having an introduction to the Vikings. We are looking forward to the students immersing themselves as Vikings today.
Thank you to those who have already expressed your interest for our Silver Duke of Edinburgh (DofE). For those who have not yet responded, we’d love to hear from you.
Your child has the opportunity to take part in the Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) this academic year. The Silver Award is a fantastic way for students to build independence, resilience, and teamwork skills, while enjoying memorable experiences with their peers.
Please take a moment to view the attached information slides which outline what the Silver Award involves. Once you’ve reviewed the details, we kindly ask you to complete the Expression of Interest form using the link below:
We ask that this is completed by Friday 26th September 2025 so we can plan effectively for the programme.
Thank you for your continued support.
