Wow! This week has been hectic for Careers
Last week our amazing year 10’s headed off to Doncaster College for their first Taster Day, in their journey to Post 16. Tomorrow is the start of Work Experience and it has been a tricky one this year, with some students trying several businesses before success or sometimes being denied an opportunity. This is something we had not expected and are revising our offer moving forward. However, the courage and resilience shown by XP and XP East students in the face of this has been exceptional. Tomorrow will see students in a range of settings, but all of them will further develop the transferable skills that the world of work is asking for in this current climate:
Tenacity; Resilience; Communication; Adaptability; Time Management; Reliability; Emotional Intelligence. We discussed on Friday the importance of making the most of the short time and being the best version of themselves and keep doing what they do at school, working hard, getting smart and being kind.
They all have a workplace booklet to complete which will help them reflect on their journey and will then use this through next year when they apply for the various Apprenticeships, Colleges and 6th Forms following GCSEs and onto their next steps.
On Thursday they will all attend New College for taster sessions, giving them another perspective on life after XP Doncaster.
