Crew White

On Tuesday’s we have been focusing on our reading as part of the Crew curriculum ‘Tranquil Tuesday.’ There has been some amazing efforts from all of them, but a special mention has to go to Jaden. In a week Jaden has read a whopping 100 pages of his book. Jaden also had the most praise points last week in our year group. He really is a stand out student at the moment, keep up the good work! Here is a picture of him studying a postcard on our recent visit to the Staffordshire Regiment museum, it was a postcard from a soldier in WW1 sent to his parents.

Celebrating Success with Crew Malala

This last couple of weeks Crew Malala has had some really significant successes!
Not only have we had 100% attendance for the last two weeks and been top of the attendance league, but we also won the World Book Day quiz achieving 34 out the 35 questions correctly!

However our success is also paying off in lessons. Crew Malala is working hard, getting smart and being kind.

Fasia earned the most praise points in year 8 for the week beginning 20th February.

We also dropped into Maths on Friday lesson 5. At the end of the lesson every member of Crew Malala was nominated for praise from either their peers or Miss Mountain (their maths teacher). It was a really proud moment to hear other students recognising that our Crew are working hard.

A big shout out to Jack and Emily too, as last week they both represented the school at the Indoor Athletics tournament.

Finally, Deanna and Alex have both won major speaking parts in the school’s production of Macbeth. Please keep checking the website for details and performance dates.

Well done Crew Malala!

National Careers Week

Parents Guide

This week is a celebration of all things CAREERS. Please take this opportunity to have a look through the parent guide and have discussions whatever the age.

Make it a family thing, whats the most unusual job someone in the family has done? What did you want to do at the age and how different has your career path taken? what advice would you give to your (insert age) self now?

Crew Rashford Crew Fire Pit

A little fire pit crew session to start our week!

Crew Rashford spent a crew session outdoors round the fire pit. Enjoying hot chocolate and biscuits to kick start our week.

Being outdoors comes with many benefits such as improving mental health and wellbeing. Students that spend more time outside during the day have shown improved concentration, increased productivity, better behaviour and more positive relationships amongst their peer group.

So here’s to the warmer weather and more crew activities outside.

When you’re ready, sunshine!! We are waiting for you!

We are the mighty Crew Rashford!

Mrs Watson and Mr Fawley.

XPD Outdoors -Fire Pit ✔️ Hot Chocolate ✔️ S’mores ✔️ Laughter & Smiles ✔️

The weather is warming up (ish)- this can only mean one thing! We are back out and about doing awesome outdoor activities.

What an amazing session we had – Sitting round the campfire, sipping hot chocolate and eating s’mores. This was the first time making s’mores for some students, each of them really enjoyed taking on the challenge not to burn the marshmallow – it’s a fine art to get it just perfect!

Here we are revisiting norms and expectations, practising fire lighting, enjoying spending time together, taking part in an old favourite shopping list game and de-gunging at the end.

Mondays are the best days!

Year 11 In School Monday 13th Staff Day

Year 11 will need to be in school for history lessons Monday 13th. This is to ensure that we will complete the course content in time and enable us to revise and prepare students for exams in the remaining lesson time.

XP will be in during the morning from 9-11:30. Skipper will be with Miss Hickson in X13 and Admiral in X11 with Mrs Hannam.

XP East will be in during the afternoon from 12:30-3:00. Pioneer with Miss Hickson in A08 and Explorer in A07 with Mrs Hannam.

It is so important that students attend these lessons, otherwise they will lose out on being taught content for their GCSE course.

A reminder as well that students will be having their People’s Health and Elizabethan’s mock w/c 20th March so students need to be revising for this.

History revision is on after school on Thursdays 3:30-4:30 and all the resources for revision are on Google Classroom, the Year 11 revision website and their textbooks.

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] and [email protected]

Thank you

Miss Hickson and Mrs Hannam.
