What is Power?

E29 absolutely smashed their Presentation of Learning last night!

It was amazing to listen to their stories of the expedition, including how the theme of power was prominent to the character development and arc within the Scottish Play – Macbeth. Students performed key scenes to an audience, displaying their own interpretations of the characters. Parents were welcomed and encouraged to participate in art workshops facilitated by Pioneer and Explorer, as well as being shown beautiful work in the Lorax. We presented subject specific stands where we showcased examples of how the earth’s tectonic plates are powerful in Geography, the mighty power of the atom and chemical reactions in Science and how street art has the power to capture an audience.

You should be really proud of yourselves – you were awesome!

Take a look at a couple of the pictures from the evening.

On Tuesday 16th April we’ll have our final Art learning lab before the GCSE Art exam the following week. As it’s the last chance before the exam for students to get some extra time in, we’ll be running an extended session running from 3.30 until 5.30pm. To keep everyone energised and working we’ll have a selection of food and snacks for students who attend.

All year 11 students are welcome, but we’ll be sending invites out to those who we’d really like to see for that final push.

Beautiful Work This Week

Sign Language Week at Green Top

Last week was Sign Language week in the UK – so all the students at Green Top have made this video, singing and signing the song ‘True Colours’ as part of the celebration!

‘If We Plant Trees…’ – Legacy @ NJS

As part of their awesome POLs this week, every single Year 3 and 4 child has planted a tree at Norton Junior School, with support from Murphy’s and their Roots Programme.

They also celebrated their product from last term (more on this next time!) and unveiled their awesome digital artwork, made from images of recycling – this will be on display in school after the Easter break!

Plover’s Eco Garden!

KS1 at Plover have just finished their Expedition ‘The Blue Planet’. Their final product has provided a lasting legacy for the community – a lovely eco garden that will develop across future Expeditions to provide a range of habitats and food sources for a variety of insects, birds and mammals.

Students dedicated the trees to community heroes who have helped to improve the lives of people across Intake and Doncaster at their POL yesterday – including Mrs Ogle and Dame Rosie Winterton!

Highlights from KS1 and LKS2’s COL @ Green Top

On Friday, KS1 and LKS2 at Green Top celebrated their learning for their two Expeditions – ‘The Blue Planet’ and ‘There Is No Planet B’

The celebration included an interactive art gallery, a visit from Reptile Rendezvous and showcasing awesome family learning.

Easter-Revision-1Download

We just wanted to post a reminder about the revision sessions that are running during the second week of half term.  Although these aren’t compulsory, attendance is highly encouraged.  Having said that, it’s also important that Y11 have a much deserved rest from revision too, so hopefully they will be able to strike the balance between both over the next two weeks.

Once we return on the 15th, it’ll be all systems go for Y11 as we really do start the final push towards GCSEs (you can view the GCSE timetable here, but don’t forget we have Art and Spanish Speaking exams scheduled during the first two weeks back.)

Core Subject Learning Labs will be running from the first Monday back and these sessions will be compulsory for all students.  If your child can’t attend for any reason, please let me or your child’s Crew Leader know.

Monday: Maths
Wednesday: English
Thursday: Science

Finally, D6 (our Saturday revision school) will be back up and running from 20th April.

Y11 have shown such resilience this term and we’re all so impressed with the effort being put into all sessions.

With thanks for all your support,
Angella & Mel
