E27 Presentation of learning date

We have set a date for our last POL as year 9 – we are hosting at XPE on Wednesday 19th July from 4:30-5:30. We will keep you posted with more information but for now, save the date!

Crew Da Vinci DOFe-

Last week Year 9 went and completed our bronze DOFe. This is Crew Da Vinci’s adventure over the two days we walked and camped out. They really shined, worked hard and pushed through and came out feeling stronger minded and closer as Crew!

Miss Cade is very impressed with each and every member of Crew Da Vinci, they faced challenges and went head first into them! The Conduct around staff and members of the public was outstanding! They should be very proud of their selves because Miss Cade certainly is!!

World of Work Week

Wow! This week has been hectic for Careers

Last week our amazing year 10’s headed off to Doncaster College for their first Taster Day, in their journey to Post 16. Tomorrow is the start of Work Experience and it has been a tricky one this year, with some students trying several businesses before success or sometimes being denied an opportunity. This is something we had not expected and are revising our offer moving forward. However, the courage and resilience shown by XP and XP East students in the face of this has been exceptional. Tomorrow will see students in a range of settings, but all of them will further develop the transferable skills that the world of work is asking for in this current climate:

Tenacity; Resilience; Communication; Adaptability; Time Management; Reliability; Emotional Intelligence. We discussed on Friday the importance of making the most of the short time and being the best version of themselves and keep doing what they do at school, working hard, getting smart and being kind.

They all have a workplace booklet to complete which will help them reflect on their journey and will then use this through next year when they apply for the various Apprenticeships, Colleges and 6th Forms following GCSEs and onto their next steps.

On Thursday they will all attend New College for taster sessions, giving them another perspective on life after XP Doncaster.

Well done Crew Marx!

I am so proud of these guys! It feels like forever ago we had to work together as crew like this! I loved watching you all be kind and compassionate as well as maybe argue a little! That is what crew is for though, the good and the tough!

I have to sneak selfies with the boys now because apparently they are too cool for a picture with me now!

Welcome home Flying Scotsman

Today I had the privilege of taking 3 students to watch the Flying Scotsman come through Doncaster train station. Big appreciation to Bill McHugh at Doncaster Council for the VIP invitation. Thanks to Bella Martha and Seb for representing the school community so professionally.

E29 Spanish Presentation of Learning

The E29 Year 7 Spanish presentation of learning will take place on Monday 10th July starting at 4:00 pm and finishing at 5:00 pm. The students will presenting work from their Spanish expedition “¿Te alegras de ser tú?” (Are you happy being you?). During this expedition the students have learned how to talk about themselves, their local area, their families and friends, and their life at school. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear E29 show off their impressive Spanish skills!

Students will be expected to stay on site until the presentation starts, and parents and carers should come to reception to sign in. The presentation will be held in the heart of XP East school.
