Football fixtures tonight cancelled

Unfortunately both the girls football at Hungerhill school and the boys football at Rossington have been cancelled tonight due to inclement weather. We will inform the students as and when these fixtures are rearranged.

As we reached the end of term one I was privileged to witness Crew Young hearing younger students in Miss Johnson’s Crew reading to them in a blend of the Accelerated Reader programme with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. It was a really special moment for me to overhear the confidence and conviction with which our E26 year seven students read aloud to older members of our school community, and the compassion shown in return by Crew Young.

E25 (Y8) Fieldwork Reminder: 8/11/19

8Pioneer and 8Explorer will be out on fieldwork on Friday 8th November.  The location and planned activities relate to our current STEAM expedition ‘Under the Skin’ and the guiding question-“What is the state of the nation’s health and what should we do about it?”.

We will be visiting Sheffield Hallam University (Collegiate Campus). We have been learning about the lungs, heart and how poor health can affect our bodies. This visit will help us to understand more about what affects our health with a focus on cancer, how it is caused and can it be treated with radiotherapy.

Students will attend different workshops throughout the day at the Robert Winston Building and the virtual reality suite opposite the University.

If you have any further questions, please contact Miss Mistry – [email protected]

The fieldwork arrangements are as follows:

  • All students to arrive at school (and meet in E03) by 8:00am for a prompt departure at 8:30am.
  • Students will need to bring a packed lunch and bottle of water (no glass bottles, juice, cordial or fizzy drinks or sweets.) A packed lunch will be provided for those students receiving free school meals and parents I have contacted.
  • Please bring any prescribed medication required, clearly labelled in a plastic bag or envelope with your child’s name and required dosage.  This includes travel sickness tablets where necessary as we will be travelling by coach for approximately 1hour.
  • Sensible clothing, coat and shoes need to be worn- we will be inside for the day but will have a 5 minute walk to another building.
  • Students will return to school at approximately 3:15pm – although we will post updates on the school’s twitter account and the  XP East Parents/Carers Facebook group.

All students must complete this form whether you wish to order a Christmas Dinner or not. We require a response from every student.
If you do not want a lunch on this day you must bring a packed lunch as there will be no other meal options.
Staff we still need you to place an order please even if you are on duty. Please also order on the relevant form for which school you would like the dinner at.

Freedom Tech Device Scheme

We can confirm a number of Chromebooks were delivered yesterday as part of the scheme.

We are currently waiting on a list of names and serial numbers so that we know which student each device belongs to.

As soon as we have this we will post another update to say they can be collected at the end of a day.

In the meantime if any parents wish to collect the devices (for example if their child does not know about it) please let us know and we will not hand them theirs.

Thank you.

XP and XP East had the honour of listening to GB 200m runner Beth Dobbin during community meetings. She inspired us all with her achievements as a sprinter, talking to us about working hard and demonstrating great resilience to overcome injuries and becoming part of the GB squad. What a fantastic role model she is to young aspiring athletes. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and hopefully we will see you again at XP/ XP East.

REMINDER – Car Park Fines

Thank you to all those who have supplied their car registrations to the school. We have logged all these as permit holders with Doncaster Rovers so that you are able to park in their Car Park 3. This does not include any of their other car parks.

Please remember to update us with any new car registrations as soon as possible. We will input these within a few days of receiving them so please ensure you do not stay in the car park longer than 30 minutes within that interim period.

We are unable to revoke any parking fines so it is important all parents submit registrations. It is your responsibility to supply new registrations to us and/or not park in the car park longer than 30 minutes until registrations are added to the permit list.

If you do receive a fine please contact the school office. We can provide you with a standard letter to state your child attends XP and Doncaster Rovers allow us to use that car park. In most instances fines have been cancelled, although recently there have been occasions where the fine has only been reduced. To re-iterate, the school is unable to do any more than this so please ensure you are doing everything you can to avoid a fine.

Thank you.
