Now that our C25 and C26 students have returned from their recent fieldwork visit to Madrid, they are keen to tell their stories, showcase their journals, and share their experiences with their parents at our Celebration of Learning, to be held in XP East School on Friday 15th July from 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. We look forwards to seeing all parents of these students there next week.
Every Thursday (and sometimes Friday!), we spend lots of time in Crew talking about our pledges and how best we can achieve them. Crew Malala made an extra effort last week to ensure each and every one of them completed one pledge! This ranged from challenges such as managing distractions in lessons and ensuring we were working hard; taking every opportunity we could to get smart by asking for help (thanks Mrs Daniels for the amazing photo!), or doing something nice for someone else to show our appreciation, all the way to using our voices even when we were nervous and making stands about current issues in community meetings!
Crew Malala love a challenge and welcomed this one with open arms and they have made a tremendous effort! I think we have succeeded in completed last weeks pledges all around! I can’t wait to see what they’ve got up their sleeves for the rest of this week!
Well done, Crew!
Miss Cunningham 🙂
C26 and C25 GCSE geography students had a lovely time on Friday at the Longshaw Estate in the Peak District. They were collecting data on the width, depth and velocity of the river at two sites so they could analyse whether there were changes downstream to support Bradshaw’s Model.
In our lessons preparing for the fieldwork, students had to select our hypotheses, consider the suitability of the site and any risks involved as well as justify our sampling and data collection methods. But, we’re only half way through! Next steps in our upcoming lessons after the fieldwork are to present and explain our methods of data presentation and evaluate the enquiry. During our evaluation of the enquiry, students have to consider any problems with their data collection methods, limitations of the data and suggestions for improvement. Finally, they will evaluate the extent to which conclusions are reliable.
No wonder Dylan, Rosie and Marcus fell asleep on Friday and Rihanna needed a hot chocolate boost – all this hard work is tiring!
All students to come in PE kit, bring a water bottle, suncream and a packed lunch. Any questions speak to crew leaders.
Let’s hope we get some great weather.
Happy Friday – here’s a selection of beautiful work from across the XP Trust this week!

Year 7 have their final rounders fixture of the season away at Hall Cross Lower School. We will be leaving school at 3pm to walk there and students will be ready to be picked up from Hall Cross Lower School at 17.00. There is a possibility it could over run with the event being a tournament but we will contact you if so.
Please tick your name off if you can play and let Miss Bowser know if you are unable to play. Team sheet is on the notice board on the PE corridor Thanks.
Sadly, the time has come to say a fond farewell to Crew Young after five amazing years with this very special group of young adults. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have been a small part of their lives whilst they were studying at XP East, but sadly as one chapter ends then another surely begins on their learning journey. Here are some of the highlights that I was lucky enough to share with the “Youngsters”:
